Under new ownership with Crest Hotels, The Feathers Hotel in Ludlow is set to re-open its doors following its first phase refurbishment.
The hotel was acquired by Crest Hotels late last year after it closed in August following a legionnaires outbreak in 2017 which caused the death of of 69-year-old Elaine Brown, who contracted the disease at the property.
The firm said it is investing more than £1m to re-position the 40-bedroom property, which includes an aesthetic makeover to public areas, rooms and the function suite, as well as complete new plumbing throughout.
The initial phase of the refurbishment has seen the former bar area of the hotel transformed into a brand new 34-cover tea room which will be open from Friday, 24 May 2019.
Jason Hiley, group operations director for Crest Hotels said: “This has been a long time in the planning but we are absolutely delighted that the doors to the hotel are open once again with our fabulous new tea room. The decision to create a tea room felt like the natural choice when looking at the target demographic of both our hotel and Ludlow as a destination, we feel it really compliments the high street perfectly.”
Crest Hotels said it is now turning its attention to the remainder of the hotel which is still undergoing renovation. This includes a major refurbishment of all bedrooms and corridors, the creation of a lounge and welcome area, and a new experience focused destination restaurant.
