Corinthia Hotels has signed an agreement with ShiLong Industry and Geminus Group to launch a luxury hotel and branded residences in Chengdu, China, in 2032.
The development is scheduled to open within a new 225m mixed-use tower located in the Gaoxin District. The project occupies a site in the South Central Activity Zone near Gui Xi urban park.
The hotel will feature 150 rooms and suites alongside 60 branded residences. The wider master development includes retail and commercial components, representing a total investment of approximately RMB 4bn.
Construction is currently underway on the tower, which aims to meet modern sustainability standards. This project marks the first entry into the Chinese market for the Mediterranean-based hotel brand.
The company confirmed it is currently exploring further opportunities across China as part of a phased international expansion strategy.
Simon Naudi, chief executive of Corinthia, said: “Bringing Corinthia to China marks an exciting milestone in our international growth. Chengdu is a city of dynamism, creativity and cultural depth – qualities that resonate deeply with our own philosophy.”
Xiao Miaomiao, chairman of Shilong Industrial, said: “Together, we will convey the brand’s heritage, uphold global excellence in service, and integrate these with Chengdu’s distinctive local culture. Through this collaborative effort, we aim to create a new benchmark for luxury living.”
Anthony Bailey, chairman of Geminus Group, added: “Together with Shilong Group and Corinthia, we are pleased to be shaping Corinthia’s presence in central Asia, bringing the brand’s timeless, service-led craft into a place of extraordinary culture and character.”
