Switch Management has acquired the 78-bedroom Ibis Styles Hotel Bournemouth out of administration from Coast Hotels and Leisure, safeguarding approximately 30 jobs.

Joint administrators Glen Carter and Damian Webb of audit firm RSM UK Restructuring Advisory completed the sale of the 78-bedroom venue to Switch Management. The property management company took control of the East Cliff business following a period of trading in administration.

Approximately 30 hotel employees have transferred to the new operator under the terms of the transaction. The purchase marks the second Bournemouth acquisition for the buyer, which previously bought and reopened the nearby Queens Hotel and Spa following a £2m investment programme.

The hotel will continue to trade in the regional coastal market as the new owners begin work to stabilise the business.

Carter said: “In what continues to be a challenging market for the hospitality sector, we are pleased to have secured a future for the hotel. Not only does this transaction ensure the continued operation of the business, it also saves around 30 local jobs. The ongoing support of the employees throughout the administration process has been exceptional and we wish the whole team the best of luck moving forward.”

John Angus, managing director at Switch Management, added: “We are delighted to have acquired the Ibis Styles Bournemouth and look forward to building on its established reputation. The hotel has a strong foundation and an important role within Bournemouth’s hospitality market. Drawing on our extensive management experience, we will maintain the high standards guests expect, deliver exceptional service and create long-term value for the business, its employees and its guests.”
