The 138-bedroom Delta hotel at Kents Hill Park in Milton Keynes has offered to fill its rooms with homeless people to keep them off the streets amid the Covid-19 virus outbreak.
According to Milton Keynes Citizen, in an exchange for a six figure sum, currently being agreed with Milton Keynes Council, guests could include vulnerable members of the community, which includes ex-prisoners and homeless people.
The council, which usually pays for homeless people to stay in hotels as a “last resort”, when all other temporary accommodation is full, but with hotels forced to shut its doors following government guidelines due to the coronavirus outbreak, Milton Keynes council was forced to approach hotels.
As government guidelines states, all guests will have to observe social distancing rules, which means they may not be able to use the hotel’s leisure facilities.
A spokesperson for Delta told Milton Keynes Citizen: “As a hotel we are incredibly proud to step in at the eleventh hour to help some of the most vulnerable people in the community.”
The Delta, formerly the Hilton, is part of The Marriott Group, who’s portfolio includes Courtyard by Marriott Oxford South, London Marriott Hotel Marble Arch and Manchester Marriott Victoria and Albert Hotel.
