The Sydell Group has announced that NoMad London will open its doors in Covent Garden this December.
It marks the fourth property in the Sydell Group portfolio, joining hotels in New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and will be the group’s first UK site.
The hotel is set to open inside a historic, grade II-listed building that formerly housed the Bow Street Magistrates Court and police station.
The 19th Century building will be renovated into a ninety-one room hotel, preserving much of the original architectural features in its design.
The building’s original magistrates’ courtroom will be transformed into a space for private events and gatherings, while the former police station will house a museum with rotating exhibitions that explore the Metropolitan Police Forces’ history.
New York-based interior design firm, Roman and Williams, has led the design of the new site, which “draws inspiration” from the original materials, color palette and architecture of the building.
The design is also set to “pay homage to the decorative traditions of England’s heritage while exploring the relationship between the New York and London art scenes”.
Speaking about the site, the Sydell Group said: “As the NoMad’s first presence outside the United States, NoMad London will continue to offer a culture of gracious hospitality combined with understated elegance and comfort.”
