Craft-beer themed hotel to launch under Brewdog brand

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Craft beer firm Brewdog has announced plans to open a themed hotel as part of a record-breaking crowdfunding campaign to raise £25m to expand the company.

The Scotland-based business previously raised £4.25m through its ‘Equity for Punks’ scheme in 2013, but is now aiming to raise more than five times that figure.

The investment scheme will see 526,316 shares in the brewery being made available for anyone to buy for a minimum investment of £95 for two shares.

The firm said that the money raised from the investors will be used to fund an expansion of the brand’s brewery and bar division, as well as launching new projects including a custom sour beer facility, distillation plant and the craft beer-themed hotel.

The hotel is expected to be developed near its brewery in Ellon, Scotland, to give somewhere for visitors to stay and will feature draught Brewdog in its bedrooms.

James Watt, Brewdog co-founder, said that the craft beer “revolution” has succeeded in redefining beer and Equity for Punks is redefining business finance.

He added: “To grow Brewdog whilst being true to our values, we have had to build a whole new generation of business model. Equity for Punks puts the people who really care about our beer in control and keeps the passion and integrity in people’s beer glasses.”

To mark the launch, Brewdog has created a video showing founders Watt and Martin Dickie attempted to raise funds for expansion in a variety of ways including busking, jumble sales and even posing semi-naked in the window of its Aberdeen bar.
