The Zetter Group has acquired a site to launch its first hotel outside London, in Manchester’s London Road Fire Station building.
The group’s London properties are known for their advanced eco-credentials and their sites’ quirky details. The new Manchester site will be the group’s first operation outside the capital and the fourth hotel in the collection.
The project’s staff will submit a planning application in autumn 2016.
Michael Benyan, the Zetter Group’s director, described the acquisition as “the perfect opportunity”, adding: “London Road is an iconic building and a real gift for us as hoteliers. We want to preserve the existing beauty and magic of the building and use it to help create a unique experience for our guests.
“Allied London should also be applauded for their vision and ambition for the regeneration of the area – it’s an exciting project to be a part of.”
The Zetter Group will team up with long-time interior design partner Russell Sage Studios for the project. The studios achieved a substantial reputation for designing The Goring Hotel’s Royal Suite, a number of Jason Atherton’s and Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants, as well as interiors for two existing Zetter Townhouse projects.
Over five floors, London Road will become ‘One Space’ – “one collaborative destination with a multitude of aspects”, the group said in a statement, including the hotel, a cocktail bar, spa and co-working space.
