Travelodge opens its largest hotel in Dorset

Travelodge has opened its first hotel in Poole and its largest property in Dorset, taking the company’s portfolio in the county up to six.

The new-build hotel is the company’s 534th hotel and features 125 bedrooms, a bar cafe and free car parking. It represents an investment of £9.5m and has created 31 jobs within the local community.

To celebrate the opening, Travelodge hosted a treasure hunt where a local family won a Travelodge ‘Dreamer Bed’ and a family holiday to Cornwall.

Tony O’ Brien, property director at Travelodge, said: “The Dorset economy is growing at pace and our new hotel in central Poole adds a great value option for visiting business and leisure travellers.

“We now operate six hotels across Dorset but with increasing visitors numbers to the county there is still a shortage of good quality accommodation at a great value price.”

He added to meeting this growing consumer demand the company is now looking for new hotel sites in Bournemouth, Dorchester, Shaftesbury, Swanage and Weymouth, which  could create around 200 new jobs.
