Budget hotel chain Travelodge has opened its first property in Finchley – it’s third and largest in the London borough of Barnet.
The 128-bedroom hotel is a two-floor extension on top of an existing four-storey office building, and will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, a bar cafe and the company’s new contemporary brand design, which has been created by its customers.
The property – which was officially opened the Mayor of the Borough of Barnet, David Longstaff, and Travelodge regional director, Bryn Taylor, at a ribbon cutting ceremony – represents an investment of £7.5m and will create 25 new jobs within the local community.
Jessica Jackson, hotel manager, said: “Not in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be making history by managing Finchley’s first branded hotel. I am absolutely thrilled to be given this amazing opportunity.
The hotel is located in a great location and has got off to a flying start. We have been literally booked out with business customers during the week and leisure travellers at the weekend, since we opened for business.”
The company confirmed it was now looking to grow its portfolio of hotels across Greater London’s “emerging boroughs”, citing Barking, Tottenham, Muswell Hill and Highgate as potential locations.
