BHA announces plans to help SMEs with pension regulations

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

The British Hospitality Association (BHA) has announced its partnership with the BlueSky Pension scheme in a bid to make it easier for its members to comply with auto-enrolment.

Members of the BHA will now receive free access to the BlueSky Pension scheme and pay 30% less for one-stop retail-time auto-enrolment, which the association said makes the management of the process easier.

From 2012, all employers must enrol eligible employees into a qualifying workplace pension scheme, and with a growing number of businesses now reaching their staging dates there is a sharp increase in compliance notices being issued by the Pensions Regulator.

Over half of the notices issued in the last four years have been issued in the last three months.

Ufi Ibrahim, CEO of the BHA, said: “Compliance and penalty notices are set to rise as we pass staging deadlines for small businesses. We have done the hard work on workplace pension for our members.

“Our partnership with BlueSky makes it easier for business owners to keep on top of pension compliance and avoid the time and the cost of being fined.”
