The Lamb Inn in Rustington scooped the ‘Pub & Restaurant Award’ for its contributions to the local community at the recent South & South East in Bloom contest.
More than 300 people were in attendance at the ceremony, held at Ferneham Hall in Fareham, to see BBC TV gardener Chris Collins present the winners with an engraved glass trophy.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to work together by the campaign and thereby contribute to South & South East in Bloom’s objectives of making places greener, cleaner and more pleasure to work in, live and visit.
South & South East in Bloom chairman Peter Holman said: “Despite all the fears and doom and gloom in the UK, the In Bloom competition has continued to grow and involve people in a way nothing else does. Sometimes people make the mistake of thinking that we’re all about flowers and hanging baskets, but we’re more interested in the environment and the sterling work of communities. Many new people became involved this year, so we must be doing something right.”
