Staff at the Dormy House Hotel near Broadway released 99 red balloons into the air on Valentine’s Day to mark the start of a major refurbishment.
The release of the balloons capped the day-long ‘We Love the Dormy’ event, during which the marketing team and suppliers met to discuss the future design, style and marketing of the hotel ahead of its £10 million transformation.
Everyone who finds one of the balloons and returns the attached card will be entered into a draw to win dinner, bed and breakfast at the four-star venue.
Marketing manager Debbie Sarjant said: “We wanted to get employees and suppliers together to generate real excitement about our plans for the hotel.
“With a £10 million investment in the hotel and a great marketing and PR team to promote it, it’s the start of a very exciting year ahead for The Dormy.”
The redevelopment of the hotel will happen in two £5 million phases. The first phase will see the hotel’s public areas and 40 bedrooms renovated, while the second phase see the creation of a stylish new house spa.
The Dormy will close in mid-March for the work to begin and reopen after the first phase of bedroom redevelopment in the summer. It is expected that the house spa will be ready for launch in early 2014.
