AccorHotels has revealed a new, non-chemically bleached bed linen and towel range.
The hotel group will begin phasing in the products in France and Europe as contracts with laundry service providers, which are generally signed for three years, are renewed.
In a statement it said the linen will reduce CO2 emission by 42%, as well as reducing average water consumption for towels and bathrobes by 48%. It also claims to be the first global hotel group to offer natural coloured linen, which is part the group’s scheme to reduce the carbon footprint generated by its rooms.
Arnaud Herrmann, AccorHotels director of sustainable development, said: “Through this major innovation, our aim is for our rooms to feature linen and towels that are more environmentally friendly.
“This project is in line with the commitment made by the group as part of its sustainable development program, ‘Planet 21 ActingHere’, to co-innovate with its partners to develop offers and services that have a positive impact.”
