Two Principal Hotels in Glasgow have been recognised at the 2018 Scottish Hotel Awards.

The four-star Principal Grand Central Hotel was awarded two ‘People of Excellence’ awards with Wendy Johnston receiving ‘Event Individual of the Year’ and Lynne Doyle winning ‘Housekeeper of the Year’.

Located in the centre of the city, adjacent to Glasgow Central train station, the Grand Central Hotel offers 230 bedrooms and 21 event rooms.

Paul Bray, general manager of the Grand Central Hotel, said: “We work hard as a team on a daily basis to ensure we’re giving our guests the best possible experience from the moment they walk through the door. We couldn’t be prouder of Wendy and Lynne who provide an unrivalled service daily.”

Principal Blythswood Square Hotel was also recognised, with Lauren Mcavoy winning ‘Pastry Chef of the Year’, while reception supervisor Courtney Early won the ‘Rising Star’ award. The hotel was also awarded the City Hotel and Business Hotel of the Year.

The property is currently going through a multi-million pound refurbishment that will refresh all of the existing guest rooms and suites with a new look, as well as adding 12 new bedrooms and creating a new two-bedroom penthouse suite.

Murray Thomson general manager of Blythswood Square Hotel, said: “We are honoured that we have been recognised at the Scottish Hotel Awards. Lauren is an extremely important part of the team and is exceptional at what she does – the perfect winner for this award.”
