Eigelaar joined The Belfry in 2018 as GM bringing over 20 years of experience in the hospitality sector with him, having worked in hotels and resorts across the UK, including DoubleTree by Hilton, Locke Hotels, Sofitel, The Midland Hotel and QHotels.
The Belfry was recently announced as the venue for the Betfred British Masters 2021, and was recently awarded the World’s Best Golf Hotel, England’s Best Golf Hotel and England’s Best Golf Course at the World Golf Awards.
It was also named England’s Leading Resort and England’s Leading Conference Hotel at the World Travel Awards.
The Belfry said it has “invested and adapted” to ensure the resort is safe for all guests and staff with its ‘Our Pledge To You’ initiative, which showcases the resort’s commitment to meeting the highest standards cleanliness procedures and protocols across all areas of the resort.
Eigelaar commented that it was an “honour” to take on the role of resort GM and will continue to deliver and build on what had been created at the Belfry and ensure the resort retains its position as a “major player” in the hospitality industry.
He said: “It has been a difficult time for the hospitality industry and there’s still a long road ahead of us given hotels and venues aren’t yet permitted to operate at full capacity however, now that vaccinations have begun does mean there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”
