The Isle of Colonsay’s only hotel, The Colonsay Hotel, has been brought to the market with a guide price of £650,000 for the freehold going concern.

Comprising nine boutique bedrooms and suites, a bar, conservatory, and dining room, the property also features a number of outbuildings and separate staff accommodation.

Purchased in 2005 by its current owners, the 18th Century Scottish island establishment has since undergone an internal and external refurbishment.

Jane Howard, the hotel’s current owner, said that the property provides a “fantastic opportunity to build on an already successful business” within the Inner Hebrides.

She added: “The Isle of Colonsay is becoming more and more desirable as a unique tourist destination for guests looking for remote and beautiful landscapes, beaches, ancient history and stunning wildlife. 

“The hotel offers the most comfortable and welcoming base to enjoy the island and huge potential to develop its offering.”

As well as a deal for the island’s sole hotel and pub, there is also an option to separately purchase or rent a two-bedroom cottage situated adjacent to the hotel.

Brian Sheldon, regional director of hospitality at Christie and Co, who is handling the sale, said: “The business enjoys excellent occupancy as well as good levels of local trade and is considered to be the hub of the island’s social life.  

“We believe this will be a very successful business for a buyer going into 2021 and beyond.”
