Canopy by Hilton, London City, which is set to be the UK’s first Canopy by Hilton property, has announced the appointment of Beatriz Orta as its new general manager. 

The opening of the new site, which will be launched by the 4C Hotel Group, will be overseen by Orta in her new role.

She brings with her over 20 years of industry experience, and joins the site from Holiday Inn, London Camden Lock where she oversaw operations as general manager since 2016.

In 2018 she was awarded with a ‘General Manager of the Year’ award that “recognised Orta’s remarkable talents for transforming hotel business strategy and recruiting and nurturing internal talent, resulting in a highly successful year for her team”. 

Canopy by Hilton, London City is located at the heart of London’s Minories development. The 340-room site will feature a rooftop terrace, café and destination restaurant, all of which are said to be inspired by the “eclectic culture of the local area”.

Neil Taylor, COO of 4C Hotel Group, said: “We’re delighted to have Beatriz at the helm of our brand-new opening and for her to bring the positive, lifestyle ethos of the Canopy by Hilton brand to the UK. Beatriz’s extensive industry expertise and leadership qualities have already been pivotal in the development and preparation of the hotel, ready for launch.”

Orta said: “I am thrilled to be joining Canopy by Hilton at such an exciting time for the brand and looking forward to continuing my journey with the 4C Hotel Group. 

“We can’t wait to open the doors of our brand-new hotel to guests and hope our new, design-led space in the heart of the City offers business travellers, locals and vacationers the perfect base to enjoy everything the Capital has to offer.”

She added: “Our team have been working hard in collaboration with ACMEs incredible team of interior designers to ensure guests can experience the cultural heritage of their surroundings through every element of the hotel’s design. From the textiles used in the restaurant through to the coffee beans selected and served in the café, we can’t wait for travellers to experience our very own piece of East London.”
