Set to be delivered through a joint venture between Drum Property Group and Stamford Investments, works on the £300m development began on 10 September 2021.
The first stage of the 3.6-acre build, located at Candleriggs Square in Merchant City, is due to include the 500-room hotel.
In turn, the second phase will consist of a 346-apartment build-to-rent scheme delivered on behalf of Legal and General.
Charlie McGregor, chief executive at TSH, said: “Today marks the first step of what will become Scotland’s largest hotel, bringing with it our pioneering hybrid hospitality model that will introduce something very different and very exciting to the UK market.
“Candleriggs Square, in the very heart of Glasgow’s historic Merchant City, provides us with the perfect location. We are very pleased to be active partners of hugely collaborative effort to regenerate this magnificent part of the city centre.”
He added that the development will provide a platform for TSH’s “perfect entry” into the wider UK market.
Susan Aitken, Glasgow council leader, claimed that the works will bring “economic and social benefit” to the area while “contributing to a wider renewal of the city centre”.
