Red Hotels has announced that two of its sites, The Scarlet and the Bedruthan Hotel and Spa, will increase the pay rates for all entry level roles to £11 per hour.
The independent hotels said that their “pioneering commitment” to employees and the environment has “always been at the core of everything they do and this move strengthens their ongoing promise to ensure the wellbeing of staff remains paramount”.
Owner of the Scarlet and Bedruthan, Emma Stratton, said: “We are fully committed at Red to provide our teams with a great place to work and flourish.
“We will reward our teams with a salary that allows them to have a good quality of life, providing them with stronger financial security. This is only the beginning of our plan to become a county leading employer of choice and one that is recognised for personal development.”
Earlier this year, both The Scarlet and the Bedruthan Hotel and Spa announced they became a Real Living Wage Employer from 1 June 2021.
The hotels said it has been a three-year journey to secure the status, which reportedly made them the first hotel group to pledge their commitment to offering the Real Living Wage to employees.
At the time, the hotels said they felt “now more than ever that this positive investment will encourage others to consider and follow their lead”.
