Budget hotel chain Travelodge has opened its second hotel in Stirling, its 44th property in Scotland.
The city centre hotel represents an investment of £6m for the landlord, has created 26 new jobs, and will be managed by John Campell, the company’s youngest hotel manager in Scotland.
Stephen Kerr, MP for Stirling, was positive about the number of hotels choosing to invest in Stirling and more broadly in the Scottish economy. He told Hotel Owner: “There has been a dearth of new investment outside Edinburgh and Glasgow in the last few years and the fact that the hotel market is picking up is a genuinely positive sign about the economy in Scotland.
“Travelodge in Stirling is a great sign of increased investment in the economy here in Stirling and the growing investment in new hotels is a good sign that people are seeing the advantages of investing in Scotland outside of the normal Edinburgh and Glasgow opportunities.”
Brian Wallace, travelodge Chairman added: “We are delighted to open our second hotel in Stirling city centre and bring our great value Bar Café offering to the city. Stirling has a special part in Travelodge’s history as we opened Scotland’s first branded budget hotel in Stirling.”
