Westbury Hotel in London’s Mayfair has begun a “major” refurbishment and extension by architect Morrison Design.
The project will see a second level basement floor being added and will house 196 rooms including several luxury suites, an elegant presidential suite and the “high-end” Polo Bar.
According to the hotel, the refurbishment will continue to attract “affluent” travellers looking for a central London base with “sumptuous” surroundings.
The hotel said it is currently stripping out the floors and walls as the entire space will be reconfigured. The hotel is aimed to reposition as the destination five-star hotel in Mayfair.
Peter Newman-Earp, director at Morrison Design, said: “we’ve worked closely with the client for the last couple of years to totally reimagine the building. When it reopens The Westbury will be a super luxury offering and position it for the next 20 years.”
The project is set to complete in 2023.
