The HRH Group has unveiled a £1m renovation of the Lamb and Lion as it rebrands into The Fat Badger York, reopening as a pub with rooms.
Marking the first of the Fat Badger venues to have bedrooms, the property comprises a range of bedroom types, from four posters to a loft suite.
The pub front has also been “spruced up” for guests and the site has implemented a new colour scheme to compliment the new Fat Badger branding.
Meanwhile, the venue’s original team in York will remain in place and the restaurant is headed up by general manager, Mike Larder, whose team will be creating seasonal menus using local produce, and there is also private dining seating up to 12 people.
The property occupies two grade II listed buildings partially built into the “famous” city walls and provides craft and guest cask ales which are local to Yorkshire, along with a range of gins produced in Yorkshire.
The first Fat Badger opened in Harrogate in 2010 where it boasts a AA 2 Rosette kitchen for its high quality menu. The Fat Badger is owned by the HRH Group and has a portfolio of four-star hotels, inns, AA restaurants and traditional British pubs.
HRH’s portfolio consists of seven properties within North Yorkshire, including Clementine’s Town House Hotel in York, The Guy Fawkes Inn in York, The Fat Badger in Harrogate and York, The White Hart Hotel in Harrogate, The Yorkshire Hotel in Harrogate, The Pickled Sprout Restaurant and Bar in Harrogate, and The Black Horse Inn in Kirkby Fleetham.
