The Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh West, Scotland’s first sports hotel, has unveiled the promotion of team member, Varvara Sainti, to head chef.
Prior to the promotion, Sainti was sous chef at the hotel and she plans to launch a new menu in her new role.
Having studied hospitality in Rhodes, Sainti gained practical experience working in a number of boutique hotels in Greece.
She also gained experience working on private yachts sailing the Mediterranean before taking up the position in Edinburgh.
Originally from Greece, Sainti learned to cook as her family farms vegetables and produces olive oil.
Sainti said: “I’m so excited to lead the kitchen team. My time at Courtyard by Marriott West has allowed me to work extensively with top tier professional sports teams, and their complex needs, coupled with those of a commercial kitchen have been a fantastic challenge.”
Stephen Williams, general manager, added: “Varvara has made a great impact to the hotel, and it’s been wonderful seeing her move from sous to head chef. Her experience and passion for great food are a wonderful asset to the team, and I can’t wait for our guests to enjoy the new menu items Varvara has planned.”
