Bristol’s newest four-star hotel, The Clayton Hotel Bristol City, has announced the appointment of Alison Mansfield as its new general manager.
Although originally from Dublin, Mansfield said she has “deep roots” in the area and was “delighted” when Dalata Hotel Group Plc, operators of Clayton Hotels and Maldron Hotels, announced the opening of the new 255-bedroom hotel in Bristol.
The Clayton Hotel Bristol City, which has created 80 new jobs, is situated in a prime location in the city of the historic Everards printing works on Broad Street.
Mansfield said: “I have always wanted to move to Bristol, my husband is a Bristolian, so it really feels like my roots are here. I have been asking Dalata to open a hotel in the city for the past nine years and I was thrilled when I was appointed general manager at the Clayton Hotel Bristol City.”
Dalata said she has experience of opening new hotels, after previously moving to Wales to help open the Clayton Hotel Cardiff.
She added: “I have worked in hospitality for 25 years as I initially wanted to be a chef. I loved the busy environment and meeting new people but discovered I was better placed out of the kitchen! I am thrilled to see our hotel open in such an historic building, the Everards printworks is a piece of Bristol history and it is great to see it being given a new lease of life.
“When guests arrive at the hotel they can be assured of warm and friendly service from a team who genuinely care about them. I am really proud of the team we have assembled, and I am looking forward to supporting them and watching them all develop in their roles.”
