The Ravendere Retreat acquired by group of investors

The purchase of The Ravendere Retreat was aided by a multi-million pound finance package from The Cumberland Building Society

A team of entrepreneurs, philanthropists and investors have acquired The Ravendere Retreat, a self-catering venue located in the North Devon coastal village of Lee.

The director of Pickwell Ltd, Steve Baker, and his wife, Susannah, purchased the property with business partners, Richard and Tracey Elliott. Together they plan to implement a series of sustainable initiatives within the business as they did with their first property, Pickwell Manor, which was purchased in 2007.

The acquisition of The Ravendere Retreat was aided by a multi-million pound finance package from The Cumberland Building Society.

The new owners already work with Plastic Free North Devon, a local environmental charity, and plans for the retreat’s sustainable initiatives will include heat pump powered hot tubs, electric vehicle charging points, as well as sustainable cleaning products, which mirrors the approach taken at Pickwell Manor.

Steve Baker said: “I was referred to The Cumberland as the best hospitality lender to work alongside, with a particularly strong reputation in the South West, and they did not disappoint. Their investment has allowed us to take on an exciting new venture, providing a second luxury, sustainable hospitality venue in the region.

“Ravendere Retreat is a beautiful and unique offer, which is very much aligned with our own sustainability values. We look forward to welcoming guests, old and new, to enjoy the space in the coming years.”
