Horwood House, an independently owned Buckinghamshire hotel, has unveiled the results of its £6m, 18-month refurbishment of the manor Suites in its historic Grade-II listed, 110-year-old Manor House.
The fully renovated bedrooms follow the opening of the manor’s new look ground floor bar, lounge, wedding ceremony room and dining room in April 2022.
Located on the top floor, the new look suites benefit from period architecture, originally designed by architect Detmar Blow over 100 years ago, with vaulted ceilings, original stonework and grand bay windows.
The newly-renovated rooms have air-conditioning throughout and feature a king-sized bed, a spacious lounge area with a coffee machine, fridge and dining table, as well as a fully fitted bathroom complete with either a walk-in rainfall shower or bathtub.
Caroline Morrone, general manager at Horwood House, said: “As we look ahead to a busy second half of the year, we are delighted that the latest phase of the refurbishment to our historical Manor House is now complete. Working closely with our designers, we have preserved the Manor’s character and heritage, whilst carefully adding thoroughly modern ways to meet, relax and indulge yourself.
“We are committed to elevating Horwood House and positioning it as the go-to destination for hospitality from the heart. Our new look Manor House forms an integral part of this transition.”
Acquired in 2019 by ZIZ Properties, the manor house has been redeveloped in partnership with design studio ICA. Its work on the six junior suites begins in early 2023.
Horwood House started out as a farmhouse circa 300 years ago, before being upgraded to a working family home in the early 1900s by Frederick Denny, a local businessman who made his fortune in the bacon trade.
