Hotel operator, Marriott International, has opened its new global headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. The 21-story, 785,000 sq. ft facility is home to corporate associates which support over 8,100 hotels in 139 countries and territories.
The building’s associate cafeteria, ‘The Hot Shoppe’, is 9,500 sq. ft big and includes 350 indoor seats and 100 outdoor seats for dining. It also includes mixed seating for large-scale gatherings, as well as a 20-foot-tall moving work of digital art in a high-resolution video wall that wraps around the elevator bay.
It is reported that there is 7,600 sq. ft of outdoor garden space accessible by associates on the 20th floor in addition to a green, planted roof.
There are also 2,842 workspaces, which includes offices, workstations and flexible spaces. The headquarters also has an additional 180 conference rooms with daylight available in a majority of occupied spaces, as well as nearly 20,000 sq. ft of open, flexible, modular, and virtually collaborative workspace for individuals or group meetings.
In addition, the building is reportedly in proximity to the Bethesda Metro Station, Capital Crescent Bike Trail, as well as multiple bus routes.
The building also has five levels of parking underground including 66 EV charging stations, lockable bicycle parking inside a garage for 100 bikes, and locker rooms adjacent to bike storage for cycling commuters.
According to the group, the opening of its new headquarters “marks the company’s next chapter of innovation, service excellence, and putting people first”.
