The Devonshire Arms hotel in Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire, has appointed James O’Donnell as its new general manager.

In his new role O’Donnell said he will work on the “existing success of this hotel” and aims to “raise the property’s reputation”, focusing mainly on the hotel’s two restaurants, The Burlington Restaurant and The Brasserie.

Commenting on his appointment, O’Donnell said: “In some ways an iconic property, such as The Dev, which has such a loyal following of visitors to the Dales can be even more of a challenge.

“Nevertheless, I am looking forward to working with the team here to find ways in which I can help them with their professional development, as well as fine tune the high standards that we offer at the hotel, delighting our guests even more – whether they are loyal, or new to us.”

Richard Palmer, MD of The Devonshire Hotels and Restaurant group, added: “It’s a pleasure to welcome James to the role of General Manager. He brings with him a classical hospitality education and a thorough understanding and passion for luxury hospitality, which he has gained from the vast hands-on experience he has achieved throughout his career.”
