Ayrshire-based hotelier, SimpsInns, has been named “best in scotland” after winning the top ‘Industry Achievement Award’ at the Scottish Licensed Trade News Awards in Glasgow last week on Thursday 2 November.

It is reported that at the event the director and owner of the brand, Malcolm Simpson, was commended for his “tireless dedication to Scotland’s hospitality industry” by the panel of industry judges.

The award is said to only be presented to the best hospitality business owners, entrepreneurs, managers and innovators who have made “a very special contribution” to Scotland’s hospitality industry .

News of the award follows SimpsInns’ recent £3m investment in its portfolio of venues around the Ayrshire coast to enhance quality and visitor experience.

The group’s portfolio comprises hotels, restaurants, bars and leisure activities around Ayrshire, which includes The Gailes and Spa near Irvine, The Waterside Hotel at West Kilbride, as well as the Old Loans Inn near Troon. SimsInns also employs a team of over 250 hospitality professionals.

Simpson said: “It’s a real honour to have received this prestigious accolade and be recognised for my passion for tourism in Ayrshire and around Scotland. It was fantastic to be able to celebrate the award win with my wife Karen, and sons, Lee and Jack, as well as our management team who were all in the audience on Thursday night.

“SimpsInns wouldn’t be the success it is today without the dedication and professionalism of our whole team. Such is the loyalty and career progression opportunities within the company, many of our team celebrate their long service award with us every year, from 5 to 10, to 15 years for some. The SimpsInns family is very real.”
