Dukes London has announced two new appointments to its senior management team, with the addition of commercial director Dermot Herlihy and marketing manager Loreley Barona.

Herlihy brings over 20 years’ experience, as well as an “extensive” commercial and operational background to the role. Through his career, he has worked with brands such as Corinthia Hotels and Resorts (Malta), Crown and Champa Resorts Maldives, Mount Juliet Estate Ireland, MGM Grand Las Vegas and Jumeirah Maldives.

Michael Purtill, general manager of Dukes London since April 2022 said of Herlihy’s appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Dermot into the Dukes team. With his wealth of experience in luxury hospitality, his abundant positive energy and his entrepreneurial spirit, Dermot will play a key role in creating and executing the commercial strategy for the hotel for 2023 and beyond.

“With his proven track record in developing people, Dermot will support the highly talented teams in Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management and Reservations. We are creating a phenomenal future for Dukes London, and it is a genuine pleasure to have Dermot with us.”

Herlihy added: “I am thrilled to join such an iconic hotel as Dukes London. The hotel has truly forged itself as a continuing destination for guests to return to time and again. In addition to spearheading the commercial strategy for Dukes, I am excited to work with the team to continue building on past successes as the property takes on an exciting new era.”

Meanwhile, Barona is an experienced marketer with an “extensive background” in the hospitality and creative industries. Formerly brand manager at the Quarter Group, she has also worked in F&B Marketing at St Ermin’s Hotel in Westminster and at JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel.

Robert Swoboda, head of Sales and Marketing at Dukes London since April 2022, said of Barona’s appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Loreley to our team. With her experience in marketing and advertising in hospitality, she will be a great asset to our team, helping us to create a phenomenal future.”

Barona added: “The thought of returning to hotels has been on my mind for quite some time now, and when I saw the opportunity to join this fantastic place, I decided it was the right moment to do it. The hotel has not only a rich heritage and prestige, but also a genuine and welcoming team. It is an honour for me to be part of the Dukes family.”
