Crest Hotels acquires The Metropole Hotel and Spa in Wales
The hotel, which is said to have a renowned reputation as one of the preeminent hotels in Wales, has 109-bedrooms and ‘extensive’ function facilities
Crest Hotels has announced its acquisition of the independently-owned Metropole Hotel and Spa in the spa town of Llandrindod Wells in Powys, Wales.
It is reported that the property has been “highly” successful and has been operated by the same family since 1897. More recently, it had been under the stewardship of the fifth generation of the family.
According to the sellers, Justin Baird-Murray and Sarah Hill, they have been responsible for the hotel’s “substantial” upgrade in facilities, as well as the expansion in the range of services offered to guests.
The Metropole, which is said to have a renowned reputation as one of the preeminent hotels in Wales, has 109-bedrooms and “extensive” function facilities. The historic hotel is also located close to Brecon, the natural gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park and the University town of Aberystwyth.
The hotel’s sale comes as the family feels it’s the right time to step back and hand over to new owners to “further develop and enhance this highly successful business for the future”.
Baird-Murray and Hill said: “Whilst it is of course sad to be selling a business with which we have been involved in for our entire lives, now is the right time. We wish the Singh family every success during their ownership of this wonderful hotel in a beautiful part of Wales.
“Most importantly, we would like to thank the staff with whom we have shared this memorable journey, for their hard work and dedication over the years.”
