Due to its steady growth, there has been significant investment into the hotel and spa facilities, including the spa wing bedrooms

Luxury Lake District Hotel and Spa, Armathwaite Hall has seen a £5m increase in turnover for the 12 months ended 21 March, 2022, up from the £2.7m reported the prior year.

As well as a “record-breaking” turnover, the group also reported its pre-tax profits rose from £523,479 to £2.2m over the same period.

Hospitality turnover increased from £1.9m to £5m in the year while spa sales increased from  £187,163 to £813,449. Meanwhile, sales from its wildlife park grew from £678,769 to £1.1m.

A statement by the board said: “The reduced impact of Covid-19 has meant that [the]  company has performed better than the previous year, as last year there was a total period  of seven months of no activity. The company remains in a strong financial position with net assets of £12.1m which is an increase of 17.4% on 2021.

“The company is continually assessing its market position and the directors actively seek  ways to grow the business and take advantage of business opportunities as they arise.”

Following this steady growth, there has been “significant” investment into the hotel and spa facilities, including the spa wing bedrooms which are in the process of being extended to create eight new suites by architecture and design specialists, Unwin Jones Partnership

Each layout has been redesigned to include a lobby, four-piece bathroom, luxury bedroom, as well as a lounge with large, glazed windows, corner sofas and feature fireplaces within the new extension.

These rooms will have direct access to their own outdoor space to enjoy the grounds of the hotel, and the new suites will be ready for guests to enjoy in May 2023.
