Adagio to open new UK aparthotel alongside 11 new openings

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Aparthotel provider Adagio is set to open a new aparthotel in the UK as part of 11 new aparthotels across Europe and Africa in 2023.

In the UK the company is set to open the Adagio Original London Whitechapel in Q4 of this year.

The new aparthotel will offer a total of 147 studios and flats including co-living flats. The “Urban Nest” and “Smart House Design” concepts will merge into one by installing the first co-living apartments outside of its pilot project.

A coliving apartment is fully equipped like a flat perfect for a longer stay, for living, sleeping and working, and is designed to accommodate larger groups travelling together.

Alongside this, Adagio is set to open two hotels in Belgium, five in France, one in Italy, one in Germany and one in Ivory Coast, its first ever hotel in sub-Saharan Africa.

Thomas Lamson, chief development and projects officer, said: “Since inception in 2007 and over the past 15 years, Adagio has largely consolidated its position as the market leader in aparthotels in Europe.

“The year 2022 was a sign of the resilience of the business model of the aparthotel sector, with numerous new deals and openings as well as an enormous overall performance, which was well above that of 2019 and that of the traditional hotel market.”

He added: “2022 marked another turning point for Adagio with the creation of a new brand identity, designed by internationally renowned agency Saguez and Partners, which encapsulates Adagio’s three key brand values: courage, sharing and taking responsibility.

“In addition to the eleven planned openings, Adagio 2023 will introduce two new concepts: a new and totally innovative Adagio Access 3-star apartment and the new coliving access apartment.”

Adagio was founded in France in 2007 as a joint venture between Accor and Pierre & Vacances Centre Parcs.
