Manchester City FC has announced plans to build a hotel at its Etihad Stadium as part of a £300m investment into the stadium and its surrounding areas.
Little is known about the full plans for the hotel but it has been confirmed that it would include 400 bedrooms.
The club hopes the hotel will attract customers from the 23,500-capacity Co-op Live Arena, which is currently being built next to the stadium.
The hotel plans are included in the three-year plan to create a “year-round entertainment and leisure destination” at the Etihad.
The plans also include a new covered fan zone, which would have capacity for 3,000 people and also be home to F&B outlets, a club shop and a museum.
Danny Wilson, managing director at Manchester City Operations, said: “Over several months we have been developing concepts and designs for a best-in-class fan experience and year-round entertainment and leisure destination at the Etihad Stadium and are delighted to have now submitted a planning application to Manchester City Council.
“As with all club developments, ensuring our local community benefit is a key priority and we believe these proposals will deliver long-term economic and social opportunities, building on the regeneration work delivered in East Manchester by City Football Group since 2008.”
The club also has plans to increase the capacity of the Etihad by redeveloping the North Stand.
