London property developer and owner of a property rental company, Will Jenkins, has announced the launch of Margate House, a new Bohemian-style bolthole in Margate.
Jenkins found the derelict Victorian townhouse three years ago while looking for his next project.
His initial plan was to convert the buildings into flats, but after seeing “a gap in the market for an independently-run guesthouse oozing with charm and colour in Margate” he decided to convert it into a boutique hotel.
The decor of the hotel was managed by interior designer Charlee Allan Quinton. The bedrooms feature large bay windows with sea views, linen bistro curtains, scalloped lampshades, bespoke wavy headboards, stripes, velvets, vintage rugs, and antiques.
All rooms come complete with contemporary bathrooms, walk-in rainfall showers and Haeckel’s toiletries. Downstairs, guests can find the living room, drawing room and an honesty bar which is made from a repurposed antique display cabinet.
Margate House will open its doors on 1 July with a collection from painter Jemma Kennedy.
Upon launch the hotel will offer continental breakfast to guests, but plans are afoot to repurpose the large basement kitchen into a pop-up restaurant later in 2023.
