Jubilee Hotel in Victoria sold to new operators on leasehold basis

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

The Jubilee Hotel in London has been sold on a leasehold basis for an undisclosed amount.

Located on Eccleston Square, the hotel is situated right next to one of London’s busiest stations, Victoria, and is just a short walk from Belgravia, Sloane Square and Pimlico areas.

The hotel is a popular choice with tourists due to its central location and proximity to London’s many world-renowned attractions.

Occupying a six-floor townhouse, the hotel offers a total of 26 letting rooms, ranging from single to large family rooms, along with a reception area and breakfast room.

The previous owner owned the hotel for more than 40 years and has since leased the business to a third party.

They said: “We have enjoyed running this business and seen many changes over the years. Now it is time for someone with fresh ideas to come in and move the business forward. Andrew Evangelou at Christie and Co was invaluable to us with his expertise and advice helping us achieve objectives.”

In a joint acquisition, the hotel has been purchased by experienced operators who own several serviced apartments in London and Turkey. The new owners have exciting plans for the hotel and intend to invest in a significant refurbishment programme.

Evangelou, director at Christie and Co who handled the sale, said: “ The Jubilee Hotel is a stunning period building overlooking the tranquil Ecclestone Square Gardens, which were developed by Thomas Cubitt in the 1830’s.

“The business sold way in excess of its asking price due to its ideal location in London and we were able to create a competitive bidding process from the level of  interest. We had 16 offers ranging from experienced hotel operators to new buyers looking to enter the sector.”
