Clermont Hotel Group has appointed two senior directors in the commercial function to drive its growth ambitions, following a major corporate rebrand and hotel brand consolidation last year.
Marc Saunders joins in the newly-created Sales and Marketing director role, where he will “ensure the effective development of the group’s brand identities”, including The Clermont, Thistle and The Cumberland and new F&B concept space, ‘Sound’.
He will also lead the team in developing marketing and promotion strategies which span across PR, digital and social.
Saunders joins Clermont Hotel Group having spent more than 20 years working in marketing roles across the hospitality, consumer goods, retail and leisure industries, with senior roles at JD Wetherspoon, Greene King, The Big Table Group and, most recently, Splendid Hospitality Group.
Saunders said: “I am delighted to be joining Clermont Hotel Group during this exciting period. With some of the finest hotels in London this really is a unique opportunity for me to support the business to the next level. I am looking forward to bringing a fresh perspective to the talented and dedicated sales and marketing teams and wider business.”
Meanwhile, Stuart Yeates joins as Group Revenue and M&E director, and brings more than 17 years’ experience in revenue management, having worked across Travelodge, InterContinental Hotels Group, Jurys Inn Hotel Group, Amaris Hospitality and most recently Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland.
In his new role, Yeates will develop, implement and co-ordinate the commercial strategy of Clermont Hotel Group, maximising revenue opportunities across the brands and hotels to deliver optimal profit contribution.
Yeates said: “I’m delighted to be joining at a hugely exciting time for Clermont Hotel Group. It has been evident throughout all my interactions with the team that I am joining a business that has hugely talented, passionate and dedicated people.
“The role represents a huge opportunity to utilise my experience to further support the growth and development of the company over the next few years and beyond.”
Commenting on the appointments, Gavin Taylor, CEO of Clermont Hotel Group, added: “I am delighted to welcome Stuart and Marc to Clermont Hotel Group. Both roles are fundamental to strengthening our brand, marketing and digital strategy and as we build on last year’s record financial results, it’s important we turn our focus on capturing fair market share across all hotels and across all revenue lines.
“Some of this focus will inevitably mean that investment is needed into some of our hotels. Their expertise will be invaluable as we continue to drive the business forward, reinforce our position as the largest hotel owner-operator in London, and explore the potential for future growth and expansion.”
