The Beacon Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, has added seven rooms to the venue for guests to stay, encompassing six uniquely styled bedrooms and a summer house cabin.
The Kent countryside retreat combines a restaurant headed by executive chef Scott Goss with new home from home country house accommodations, creating a unique destination for food enthusiasts and those seeking the perfect escape. The rooms were previously occupied by the founders and family of I’ll be Mother Group.
I’ll Be Mother Group encompasses The Beacon Tunbridge Wells, Kingdom Penshurst and The Swan Chapel Down and is a hospitality family founded by Pete and Viv Cornwell dedicated to creating unforgettable dining and hospitality experiences.
Pete and Viv Cornwell said: “Now is the perfect time to add to the dining experience of the Beacon by opening our former family home to our guests. We have always been asked about staying at our beautiful country house and now was the right time to do this. So our guests can stay and relax in a beautiful country home environment.”
Throughout its time, The Beacon has gone through many different iterations, from a public bath house to a private house, a hostel for refugees twice, a hotel, a pub for the local community and now the restaurant with rooms and wedding venue it is today.
Champion of Kent produce and alumni of the late Gary Rhodes, chef Scott Goss said: “I am thrilled that we are able to offer guests a culinary experience through our restaurant, events and weddings plus the addition of offering a luxe home from home. This takes us to the next level of providing more to our local and regional guests.”
Sophie Stevens, interior designer of SGS Designs who headed up the project, added: “The Beacon is an iconic Tunbridge Wells location and renowned for its views, so it was important our design for the rooms reflected the woodland and lakes in the grounds but also references the arts and crafts architectural style but interpreted with a playful twist.
“The rooms are an extension of the Garden Kitchen, main Restaurant and wedding venue so we wanted them to be an extension of the design work we had already undertaken in other areas of the building.”
