The Signet Collection has announced the appointment of Gareth Thorpe as the new executive chef at its hotel in Rutland, The Barnsdale.
In his new role, Thorpe will be in charge of culinary offerings served in 1760, The Orangery, The Rod Room and The Burley Bar.
This comes as Thorpe has amassed a reputation for his menus and creative dishes in Rutland’s culinary scene.
A member of Chaine de Rotisseurs, the owner of two AA rosettes and a Joseph Perrier ‘Young Chef of the Year’ award, the new executive chef brings critically acclaimed skills to The Barnsdale.
His career began at The Black Horse in Grimsthorpe, later moving to Siena to work at the Park Hotel.
After missing the Midlands, Thorpe returned home and spent the next two years at The Old Bridge in Huntingdon before opening his own restaurant, Tatum’s of Stamford. He then spent two years at The George of Stamford.
Thorpe said: “I’m honoured to join The Signet Collection and lead The Barnsdale’s culinary operations. Managing partner Hector Ross challenged me to showcase Rutland’s country charm in every dish and I can’t wait to show everyone what I’ve created.”
