Driftwood Hotel, a clifftop hotel in Cornwall, has been brought to market for an undisclosed sum.
The New-England inspired hotel features 14 rooms, a restaurant and a three-bedroom owner’s house, along with landscaped gardens and grounds of around five acres that lead down to a private beach.
The site is perched along the South West Coastal Path and provides sea views over Gerrans Bay and the hotel’s private beach. The villages of St Mawes and Portscatho are close by, and the hotel is a good base for guests looking to explore the Roseland Peninsula.
The current owners, Paul and Fiona Robinson, have decided to list the hotel as they seek retirement.
Paul said: “It has been a tremendous experience to own and manage the Driftwood. We have met some wonderful and fascinating guests and worked with some fantastic staff and suppliers. However, after 22 years, Fiona and I feel it is time to let someone else take the hotel with its amazing location to the next level.”
Stephen Champion, director – Hotels South at Christie and Co, who is managing the sales process, said: “Driftwood’s fantastic reputation and stunning location precedes it, offering a new owner the chance to purchase one of the best boutique hotels in Cornwall. The property offers a new owner a significant upside opportunity to develop and create a new luxury coastal hotel in one of the most stunning parts of Cornwall.
“Although the existing business is successful in its own right, the owners have devised two exciting development schemes to enhance the property with additional bedrooms and an enlarged restaurant plus spa facilities, subject to the necessary planning permissions.”
He added: “A detailed confidential pre-application has already been submitted and a supportive response has been received from the Planning Officer Equally, the hotel will appeal to buyers looking to continue trading the hotel in its current format. We anticipate significant interest in this truly unique opportunity.”
