IHG to open first UK Vignette Collection hotel in February

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

IHG Hotels and Resorts will introduce the Vignette Collection to the UK with the opening of The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool in February.

The 133-bedroom property in Ropewalks, which is located on the footprint of former 18th-Century rope-making warehouses, will have its identity “anchored in Liverpool’s maritime heritage”.

As a result, the hotel’s industrial interiors pay homage to the area’s dockland heritage, while colourful flairs reflect the artists and musicians who “gave Liverpool its second wave of global recognition”.

The hotel also includes a 200-seater restaurant and bar, serving “globally-inspired” dishes, with a menu that is inspired by the cultural influences of the city.

Tom Rowntree, VP of luxury and lifestyle brands at IHG, said: “It is a milestone moment to see the first hotel within Vignette Collection open its doors in the UK.

“Every Vignette Collection hotel has a unique identity, and The Halyard Liverpool is no different. We are delighted to welcome the hotel to the Vignette Collection family.”

David Daly, GM at The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, added: “We are proud to be captaining the ship of IHG’s first Vignette Collection hotel in the UK. The concept of The Halyard at Ropewalks Liverpool, Vignette Collection was born from a belief that communities are stronger together.

“Liverpool is a melting pot of opportunity, and we look forward to offering authentic Liverpudlian hospitality to all those who visit us.”

IHG Hotels and Resorts first unveiled the Vignette Collection brand in August 2021. Today, there are six properties open around the world and a further 19 hotels in the pipeline. IHG has ambitions to open 100 new Vignette Collection hotels in the next 10 years.
