The Social Hub to open in Glasgow

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

The Social Hub is opening its doors in Glasgow this Friday (12 April), becoming the brand’s first location in the UK.

As this hybrid hospitality concept continues to expand across Europe, The Social Hub Glasgow will welcome guests to the brand new £90m development.

Employing more than 80 locals, Glasgow represents the 18th hub to open for the Amsterdam-based company, which was founded in 2012 by Edinburgh-born entrepreneur Charlie MacGregor. Other hubs located in Europe include Amsterdam, Barcelona, Florence, Madrid, Vienna and most recently San Sebastián which was inaugurated earlier this year.

Located in the Merchant City District, The Social Hub Glasgow features a combination of 494 hotel, student and extended stay rooms and spaces where a diverse community can come to learn, stay, work and play.

With room for up to 222 co-workers daily, The Social Hub Glasgow offers everything from flexible memberships and dedicated desks, through to 20 private offices, meeting and event spaces, an auditorium, a gym, restaurant and bar alongside a bustling schedule of curated events, workshops and social moments.

The food and drinks served at The Social Hub caters to a wide range of tastes, from Scottish seafood bowls, crispy falafel and vegan haggis spring rolls to select Glasgow comfort food favourites such as a signature smoked pork cheeks.

The Social Hub said it “believes a better society is created when people with vision and talent come together from all walks of life” and that it “works towards achieving this social impact objective and generating concrete value to the communities in which it operates by designing unique spaces that foster community building”.
