The Castle Inn Hotel in Bassenthwaite has been sold to an undisclosed buyer off a guide price of £3.75m.The 45-bedroom hotel, which was originally a traditional lakeland residence, has been extended, converted and connected together to provide the bedrooms which includes seven suites, as well as a self-contained leisure club with indoor heated pool and gym.
The hotel also has several conference facilities including the 200-cover Budworth Hall, which has its own bar, stage and a fully sprung dance floor.
The hotel said it welcomes a mix of business trade as well as leisure guests “looking to enjoy the stunning local scenery as well as celebrate family events at the hotel”.
Situated in approximately seven acres of the land, the grounds to the hotel are “beautifully landscaped” and include a grass tennis court and putting green.
Julian Troup, head of Hotels Agency at Colliers, who handled the sale, said: “This is another high profile hotel sale in the Lake District which attracted a good deal of interest from a diverse range of parties.
“The region continues to attract both overseas and domestic buyers and we’re pleased to have been able to identify the right buyers who were able to close the deal to provide them with their first hotel representation in the region.”
