Travelodge officially opened a new hotel in Bermondsey, London, last Friday (23 August) as the budget hotel chain continues to work on its pipeline in the Capital.

The new property is the group’s 82nd hotel in London, and benefits from close proximity to Tower Bridge and The Shard.

Travelodge Bermondsey offers guests 73 rooms and has created 30 new jobs for the area.

Having undergone a recent brand refresh, the new London hotel has been developed with Travelodge’s new premium design, which includes a redesigned reception and “next-generation” rooms.

Sustainability has also been an important factor when designing the hotel, according to Travelodge, and has achieved an EPC rating of B and includes LED lighting throughout, PV cells on the roof, Air Source Heat Pumps and Biodiversity green roofs.

The new Travelodge also features the group’s new restaurant concept – 85 Bar Cafe – which offers an all-day dining service and welcomes both hotel guests and passers-by.

Bermondsey Travelodge is only one of three London hotels to open for the chain this year, with London Oval Cricket Ground Travelodge having opened earlier this year, and London Beckenham Travelodge currently under construction to open in the next couple of months.

Travelodge also has new upcoming hotels in Chiswick and Stratford under construction.

Steve Bennett, chief property and development officer at Travelodge, said: “We are delighted to announce that our 82nd London hotel has officially opened and we couldn’t be happier with the results. With its new premium design and great location, I have no doubt that London Bermondsey Travelodge will be a strong addition to the area.

“We have a fantastic hotel team in place, and already we are receiving excellent feedback from customers.”

He added: “The opening of this hotel marks the continuation of our expansion across the City, and we are excited for what lies ahead. We have identified more than 100 locations across London where we would like to open a new hotel and have three more hotels under construction as we continue to expand our London estate.”
