Independent hotel The Pilgrm in Paddington has announced that food and wine writer Fiona Beckett will be taking on a role as the hotel’s wine writer in residence.
As part of the new collaboration, Beckett will be working alongside The Pilgrm to curate all aspects of the hotel’s wine programming.
This will include selecting special bottles for the wine list to hosting a line up of topical talks and events throughout the coming months.
She has written 25 books about food and wine as well as contributing to many of the UK’s national newspapers.
She currently works as the Guardian’s wine writer, a position she has held for almost 14 years. The also writes for the Decanter magazine and other UK publications.
The first of a series of three introductory events will kick off on 16 October 2024 and will tackle the subject ‘How to taste wine’.
The second event will follow in January 2025; a talk on ‘How not to drink’ exploring the various avenues to take whether to cut out or to cut down on alcohol.
Beckett said: “As a regular at The Pilgrm I regard it as my home from home in London and absolutely love its warmth, individuality and style. To be asked to be their wine writer in residence was hugely flattering. I love the idea that between us we can remove some of the mystique around wine and make it fun and approachable for everyone.”
