Radisson Blu Hotel, Durham, has revealed it has begun a £5m refurbishment project to elevate its guest experience and “reaffirm its position as a premier destination in Durham City”.
The 207-room riverside hotel and events venue in the city centre is already reaping the benefits of phase one of the renovation.
The initial phase of the refurbishment, focusing on the ground floor, has been successfully completed. A new bar area and outdoor terrace overlooking Durham Cathedral and Castle has been created alongside “cutting-edge” conference and events facilities.
The hotel’s signature dining concept, Józef’s Riverside Bar and Restaurant, has been adapted to offer live music, private dining facilities and everything from afternoon tea to hand-crafted cocktails.
Stuart Lloyd, general manager of Radisson Blu Durham, said: “The refurbishment has combined exceptional facilities with thoughtful style and our signature Radisson service. Every aspect of the hotel has a new lease of life.
“The whole team are passionate about putting the hotel firmly on the map as a remarkable location in Durham city centre.”
The next phase of the refurbishment is set to be completed by February 2025, with a comprehensive overhaul of the hotel’s bedrooms.
