The Chase Hotel in Whitehaven, Cumbria, has been sold to local businessman Nejat Alkan for an undisclosed sum.
Dating back to 1840, the hotel is located in the coastal town of Whitehaven a short distance from the Lake District National Park.
The Georgian-style building comprises 23 ensuite letting bedrooms, as well as conference facilities for up to 60 delegates, and a bar with a terrace and a dining room – all set within two acres of mature landscaped gardens.
Alkan said: “We are privileged to have been able to acquire The Chase Hotel, which is a big part of community life in Whitehaven. We are looking forward to continuing to welcome visitors and locals alike.
“It is certainly business as usual for the hotel and whilst, in the future, we will undertake some upgrades and refurbishments, we are very much looking forward to working with our great team of staff to make sure every single guest enjoys their visit.”
Graham Wilkinson, business agent at Christie and Co, added: “We are delighted to have concluded the sale of The Chase Hotel.
“We worked with the previous owner, Brian Proctor, to acquire the hotel 40 years ago and we have now come full circle and helped to enable Mr Proctor to retire, and welcome Nejat Alkan as the new owner of this popular hotel in the heart of Whitehaven. We wish Mr Alkan every success for the future.”
