Edyn, the European lifestyle accommodation provider, announces the appointment of Alastair Thomann as its new CEO, effective immediately.
Thomann succeeds Daniel Carre-Bishop, CFO and interim CEO, who will continue in his role as CFO. He joins Edyn from Generator and Freehand Hotels, leading design-led shared accommodation brands, where he served as CEO of both businesses.
During his tenure, Thomann grew the company, quadrupling its EBITDA to achieve record-breaking financial performance. He also led the $400m (£323m) acquisition of Freehand Hotels, which expanded the group’s operations to the North American market.
Prior to Generator and Freehand Hotels, he was global managing director of Penta Hotels for the Rosewood Hotel Group. He joined Penta Hotels having previously held consultancy and asset management positions at CTF Hotels and Resorts and Arthur Anderson.
As part of his new role, Thomann will oversee the continued delivery of edyn’s hotel development pipeline, with new Locke hotels set to open in Paris in February 2025 and in Copenhagen in Q1 2026. He will also be responsible for driving initiatives to realise the full potential of the business’ pan-European portfolio, which delivered record performance in 2024.
Thomann said: “I am delighted to be joining Edyn at an exciting juncture in its journey as one of the hospitality industry’s true pioneers. The past year has seen Edyn deliver record revenue and open its biggest hotel to date with the 370-key Locke de Santa Joana in Lisbon, and that success is testament to the extraordinary work of the team here, who I look forward to joining. I am excited to build on these strong foundations and drive Edyn’s continued growth, harnessing the power of its innovation, design, and unique approach to hospitality.”
