Apex Hotels has announced that six of its city centre properties have been awarded Gold Green Tourism Accreditation.

The properties are Apex City of London, Apex Temple Court, Apex City of Edinburgh, Apex Waterloo Place, Apex Grassmarket, and Apex City of Glasgow.

These hotels join Apex City of Bath and Apex City Quay Hotel and Spa in Dundee, which achieved the green status last year, reinforcing the group’s commitment to sustainability across its UK portfolio.

The Gold award recognises businesses that demonstrate “exceptional” environmental and social responsibility. Apex Hotels was assessed against 15 key sustainability criteria under the themes of people, places and planet, evaluating its efforts in energy efficiency, waste reduction, responsible sourcing, and community engagement

Apex Hotels’ sustainability initiatives include a zero-landfill policy, locally sourced produce to reduce transport emissions, and ongoing investments in energy-efficient technologies. The hotel group also supports a range of national charities, including Maggie’s Cancer Centres and Mind, alongside local community initiatives.

Marie-Claire Watson, head of supply chain at Apex Hotels, who leads the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, said: “We are incredibly proud to have achieved Gold accreditation across all of our Apex hotels. Sustainability is a core focus for us, and this award is a testament to the hard work of our teams who are dedicated to making a positive impact.”

Angela Vickers, chief executive of Apex Hotels, added: ”Today’s travellers are looking for hotels that prioritise sustainability without compromising on quality. At Apex Hotels, we have embedded responsible tourism into our business, and this Gold accreditation is fantastic recognition of those efforts. We will continue to drive innovation in sustainability and create even more eco-conscious experiences for our guests.”
