Scottish hotel, Brig o’ Doon, has undergone an extensive £2.5m refurbishment, unveiling new executive bedrooms and garden suites with private balconies.

Located on the banks of the River Doon in Alloway, Ayr, Brig o’ Doon House Hotel is a four-star historic property, independently owned by The RAD Hotel Group.

Originally built in 1829 as a Traveller’s Inn, the hotel once housed just seven apartments, stables, and a coach house. Following this transformation, the hotel now offers 14 appointed bedrooms, including eight new River Suites with private balconies overlooking the river and landscaped gardens.

The refurbishment also includes an enhanced function suite and a newly created wraparound outdoor terrace, elevating its reputation as a world-class wedding and events destination.

Brig o’ Doon’s new transformation, crafted by design specialists Lucid Interiors and owners, Robert and Vivien Kyle, honours the hotel’s “rich heritage” and blends “traditional grandeur with modern sophistication”, featuring high-end finishes and bespoke interiors.

The new executive bedrooms feature a deluxe king-size bed, contemporary living area, and a modern en-suite bathroom.

Vivien Kyle, co-owner of The RAD Hotel Group, said: “Brig o’ Doon has long been a dream destination for couples and guests seeking fairytale weddings and unforgettable events. This transformation marks an exciting new chapter for the hotel, enhancing its timeless charm while ensuring the highest level of comfort and luxury. Whether celebrating a wedding or enjoying a peaceful escape, our guests can now immerse themselves in the beauty of Brig o’ Doon like never before.”

The accommodation transformation follows last year’s phase one renovations, which introduced the Garden Lounge Bar and exclusive event space. Featuring handcrafted seating, garden views, the new bar has been designed to provide a day-to-night guest experience in what the hotel describes as “Scotland’s most romantic setting”.
